How to check your local IP address in Windows 8

If you need your IP address in Windows 8 you can easily retrieve it by using various online services or if you need the local IP you can use the command prompt.

The second important IP is your local IP. If you don’t use a direct connection via modem and you have a router for your broadband connection (strongly recommended) then you have a local IP that differs from your external IP address.

1. To get the local IP address in Windows 8 you can open "RUN"
 2.  type "cmd" then clikc "OK"

3. Enter "ipconfig" and you should get your local IP address

the ipv4 adress is your local ip adress

Important: Check the description to find your REAL internet adapter. The screenshot below shows the difference, there I looked up the IP address of a virtual host. You need to find something that looks like Realtek …
Check your motherboard manual if you don’t know what internet adapter your motherboard is using!

How to show or Hide Taskbar in Windows 8

if you want to hide Taskbar in Windows 8, just read the instructions below.

Why Should You Hide Taskbar

While using some graphically rich application on Windows 8 it might be possible that the entire interface of that application does not fit on the full-screen of your computer monitor. In such cases what normally people do is that they change the resolution of the computer systems in order to adjust the user interface of the application within the screen.
However another option can be that users can configure their PCs to auto hide the taskbar so that it can stay behind till the time user does not take his mouse pointer to it. Configuring your computer in this manner ensures that you can utilize the full-screen space of your computer monitor to view the interface of any third-party application at its full.

Check RAM and processor on Windows 8 Computers

In order to learn how to check RAM and processor on Windows 8 read the tutorial below.

Knowing Your RAM and Computer is Important

Windows 8 is designed to provide more sophisticated features to the users by making its interface easier to operate. Moreover, many new programs are integrated with the operating system and because of this users need not to go for any third-party application if they want to use them. However, the interface of the operating system might be a bit complicated for some entirely new users and they might find it difficult to operate. Although everything is in the same place as it was in Windows 7 but because of the new interface users might be lost while navigating through several options and Windows. Same can be the case while checking the amount of RAM that is installed on a Windows 8 machineSame is the case with checking out.
In earlier versions of Windows if users wanted to check the amount of RAM they simply used to right click on Computer icon (in Windows Vista/Windows 7) and on My Computer icon (in Windows XP or earlier versions) and used to go to Properties option where the total installed physical memory was displayed. The case is a bit different while using Windows 8 as by default you do not get Computer icon right on the desktop.
Therefore, as a new user to Windows 8 if you want to check the total physical memory that is installed on your computer you are required to follow the steps given

The processor is also embedded in the small devices and in the personal computers and is known as microprocessor. Its speed is measured in the Gigahertz.  Higher the processor’s speed, the more instructions it can process in less time.  It is also known as the central processing unit (CPU).

Why Passwords are Required

Authentication plays an important role wherever the identification of a person is required. There are several ways in which a person can be authenticated some of them include biometrics authentication, password verification, etc. Since authentication is required to ensure that the person who needs access to any computer or device is genuine it becomes highly important to make sure that any person who tries to access a device or computer is to provide his/her credentials (username and password) for authentication. Same is the case with Windows 8 where, in most cases, a user is authenticated by the password he has been given by the administrators to logon to his account.
Whenever a user account is created in Windows 8 a password is assigned to the account by the administrator of the operating system. However if users want they can change their passwords according to their needs. Settings for whether users can change their passwords on their own or they need to request the administrators to do so can be configured by the administrator(s) only.

Best way to Change Startup Programs in Windows 8

In order to learn how to change startup programs in Windows 8 read the tutorial below.

When to Change Startup Programs

Whenever any application or program is installed on any Microsoft based computer, many times it is automatically set to startup as soon as Windows starts. This automatic configuration is application specific, i.e. applications can automatically startup while Windows starts if they are designed to do so. However there might be times when users may not want these applications to initiate themselves automatically with Windows and also there might be times when users may want to start some other applications automatically during Windows startup.
In earlier versions of Windows, i.e. Windows 7 or older, administrators used to access startup folder by navigating and browsing through several Windows using Windows Explorer but in Windows 8 things are a bit more simplified. As a Windows 8 administrator if you want to manage startup programs, i.e. enable or disable programs from getting startup automatically while Windows boots you are required to follow the steps given as below:
1 Logon to the computer on which Windows 8 operating system is installed with administrator credentials.
2 To simplify the process create shortcuts of the applications on the desktop (if they are not already present there) that you want to add to Startup folder.
3 Press Windows + R key to initiate Run box.
4 In the available field type shell:startup command and press enter key.

5 On the opened Window drag-in or drag-out the shortcuts of the applications that you want to enable or disable when Windows starts respectively.

Restart the computer (if required) to allow the changes to take effect.
7. Hit CTRL + ALT + DEL on your keyboard and go to the tab Startup and change the Startup applications there
